Lost and Never Found

Fortunately, after a brief reunion, there's enduring separation, and the vast distance brings endless longing and profound love.

Encounter and parting intertwine as time's nodes—a blend of division and connection.

I crafted a cyclic story, starting from A, with each page beginning alphabetically, with letters I designed alongside. It narrates encounters, farewells, about you and me, him and her, us and them — the stories between every individuals.

Farewell leaves a long, lingering shadow — to reunite in another dimension.

Concepts Behind

( Design draft )

All expressions and writings are formed by 26 letters. The seemingly simple characters hold profound, unfathomable meanings. I envision them as staircases and spaces, immersing myself, wandering, exploring, and looking for entrances to express emotions and thoughts.

Folding the Little Story

To carry this little story, I used letterpress printing on handmade paper, created double-sided cards, and stored them in a handmade box for a personal touch. At the box's bottom, an accordion book displays abstract stairs through woodcut printing.

I also printed this short story on two other types of paper. Compared to handmade paper, these materials are thicker, harder, and less fragile. Rather than the soft concept of "folding a story," the experimentation and presentation with these materials are more like "archiving" and “documentation.”

Expression Through the Letters

I merged individual letters to create a vast space, where many ghosts traverse—our emotions, musings, and ourselves—passing, meeting, departing.
